Solidarity Markets

These markets aim to offer a better access to fresh fruits and vegetables in the West Island.

Our Solidarity Markets not only make nutritious food more accessible to people in vulnerable situations, but they also promote our local economy by sourcing from local farmers, and paying them a fair price. We are proud to say that the average distance traveled by the fruit and vegetables available in our markets remains between 30 and 50 km.

Our "pay what you can" pricing model allows our market participants to pay a fairer price based on their own financial situation. We also accept the Proximity Card in all of our markets (see below for more information on this card). And if you are able to, you can "pay it forward" by paying more than our advertised price for your produce. This "extra" will then go to help your fellow West Islanders who are more vulnerable.

Everyone is welcome to shop at our Solidarity Markets!

Everyone is welcome to shop at our MARKETS! The 2026 season: from July 7th to October 29th.

Payment Options

We offer three payment options at all of our markets:

Pay the Suggested Price

You can pay the advertised price (real cost of the products).

Pay What You Can

You can choose to pay either 25%, 50% or 70% of the cost.

Pay It Forward

You can add an extra contribution to your receipt to help support our "Pay What You Can" option, and therefore help fellow community members.

These markets are made possible by:

Proximity Card

Proximity Card/Carte Proximité is an initiative organized by Carrefour Solidaire and supported by Corbeille de Pain (CDP). The program's mission is to support those who may not have the means to access nutritious, organic and local foods. This card can be used as a method of payment to purchase food items at any of the participating markets across the island of Montreal, including CDP's 5 markets in the West Island. The cards will be pre-loaded every month (from July until October) with donated funds based on the size of the household. The Carte Proximité program is dedicated to making healthy and local food more accessible, strengthening community solidarity, supporting local farmers, shortening supply chains and strengthening local food systems.

More information about the Proximity Card/Carte Proximité can be found here.

â–ºWe are no longer accepting request for this card for the 2026 season.
